The creative person is both more primitive and more cultivated, more destructive, a lot madder and a lot saner, than the average person ~Frank Barron

Design Expo @ Katzen

Often times imagination is taken for granted. At the expo creativity was intruiging. The Puerto Rican "No Me Olvides" photographs was moving and touching. Being hispanic, I appreciated the concept and historical presence. This immediately capture my attention. Moving towards the back was the Graphic portion of the Expo. I observed the cd and packaging layout projects and was equally fascinated at how they were all well executed and well presented. My favorite cd projects were called THE POSTAL SERVICE and OFFSPRING. Each a well known band, yet presented a different idea towards the description and action of the bands. My favorite packaging layout is the 'POW:' the comic book store. Reminds me so much of a comic book with the action font and use of coloring. Very impressive work overall.

POV Video Concept

While previewing POV examples online, I took interest in seeing other people's adventures. Life is full of action...open to soo many options. Why not bring a camera to follow? For this project, I want to create an adventure of my own with a little humor or just another interesting story to tell and watch. Next week, I plan to go to the zoo to see the new addition: an adorable baby panda...awwwwww. I can tell this is going to be fun.

DADA

Corruption, chaos, destruction, humor, disturbing, shocking all describe the movement of DADA. It clearly expressed the tortured minds and experiences from the victims of World War I. I arrived at the National Gallery of Art, expecting too much from the show. Clearly, I left with not only a deeper understanding of the meaning of DADA, but also an appreciation for art. Art can be made from anything...art is everywhere...this is DADA. An artist doesn't neccessarily has to have drawing or painting skills to create something beautiful. DADA accepted any idea that pushed away from any traditional values of society. It pushed the boundaries and let the viewer examine pieces in their own light. We suffered and this is what my message entails....this is DADA. I was and still am truly astounded to the point where I bought a magnet of Marcel's reproduction of the Mona Lisa.

Hypertext and Hypermedia

Hypertext associates to the re-order of elements through a personal or any experience, howeer hypermedia takes the creator through an everyday consciousness. It allows us to examine a deeper awareness of ourselves as individuals and the world around us. To observe the past and future to determine what is true or fiction. Like hypertext, we can create several links to display our effects. Both are about reflection upon ones life. You don't have explore your life alone, instead a collaborative work method is introduced. This allows people to gain insight from their fellow worker. This method can engage the audience in a positive light. Personally, since I have a problem of expressing my ideas clearly, this method would work best for me.

Future of the Novel

This chapters discusses many intriguing topics that breaks away from linear thinking in which the viewer must think conceptually and creatively, further challenging their minds. This consists of re-arranging old ideas and examining your past to create new ways. We should learn and catch up with past techniques in order to develop different perspectives and viewpoints. He also expresses a "fold in" method, in which we are continuously working backwards to progress for forward. One must observe the repetitions in order to allow rearranging and re-establishing new ideas. However, is this clear? Does the public get bored of the past and therefore challenges the creation?
